How are Microfiber Cloths Made and How Do They Work?

Microfiber cloth is the gold standard in the cleaning industry. A powerful tool for cleaning everything from floors to glasses, how exactly this miracle tool works isn’t known to most people. Microfiber cleaning products are quickly replacing old cotton cloths and mop heads, so understanding them better will help you make a more informed decision when it comes time to rent cleaning products for your business.

How Is It Made?

Microfibers made for cleaning usually come from a polyester and nylon blend. The fibers are processed to be broken down into strands as small as 1/100th the diameter of human hair. These fibers are then woven into cleaning products such as cloths and mop heads. An added advantage is the lightness of microfiber. A wet microfiber mop head will weigh a few pounds less than a traditional mop head.

How Does It Work?

Everything you need to know about how microfiber works is in the name. All of the benefits of microfiber cloths come from the fibers’ size. The fibers are so small they are able to clean spaces much smaller than a traditional cleaning cloth while cleaning bigger areas more efficiently by trapping dirt instead of just pushing it around. Cleaning the microfiber cloth is as easy as rinsing it and letting it dry before using it again. While a microfiber cloth is probably enough by itself, you can use cleaning solutions without worrying about damaging the cloth.

WHERE OUR MICROFIBER IS MANUFACTURED… AND ...

"OUR MICROFIBER MANUFACTURING PARTNERS ARE AS
COMMITTED TO QUALITY AND INNOVATION AS WE ARE."

One of the most frequent questions we get is “Where is your microfiber made?” When our customers or potential customers ask that question, they’re hoping the answer is the USA. That’s not the answer to the question, the answer is China (mostly). Virtually all microfiber manufacturing is done there. It’s unfortunate, but there are no microfiber cleaning products wholly produced in the US.

With that out of the way, I do want to let our customers know about the people that we do business with there. I want to highlight the factory that custom manufactures nearly all of our microfiber towels and some of our mop pads. There’s a perception in the U.S. that Chinese factories are all sweat shops with awful working conditions. While I’m sure that those kinds of factories exist (although I’ve never seen it in person):
