Kaskus Officially Introduce Their Personal Ad System

After flying under the radar for several months, finally Kaskus announce their ad platform known as kasAd to public via press conference held in Jakarta last week. Ken Lawadinata, Kaskus CEO, told us that they’ve been preparing for this ad system to facilitate people who wanted to advertise at Kaskus on a low-budget campaign, mostly for personal advertiser with budget under $2000.

Before kasAd, Kaskus sales and marketing team focuses on generating sales from big budget advertising campaign from big brands. But looking at the potential and loyalty of Kaskus users, it’s almost impossible not to do something about it. Especially looking at the fact that a lot of people been making a lot of money selling stuff on Kaskus, and it’s very reasonable for Kaskus to help these people promote their content on Kaskus via kasAd.

The method of putting an ad on Kaskus is actually not so different compared to Facebook’s ad system. Advertisers can target specific target of people by selecting sub-forums and channels such as technology, politics, gadgets, lifestyle etc. Advertisers also given two method of advertisement, CPC (cost per click) and CPM (cost per million impressions).

I have a concern for Kaskus’s new ad system, one problem also faced by Kumpulblogger and other PPC ad network is the noise and ad relevancy. ageTracker._trackPageview('/outgoing/kumpulblogger.com');" href="http://kumpulblogger.com/">Kumpulblogger and most of Indonesian PPC ad network is filled with MLM and get-rich-fast scheme which is basically a scam and a money game. If these MLM guys have the money to advertise on kumpulblogger and other PPC ad network, i would seriously think that they would also like to advertise on Kaskus which could seriously become a threat for Kaskus.

If Kaskus can handle this problem, like Facebook, then they can make a lot of money from this platform without so much effort on pursuing high-budget advertisers.

TVC Campaign Launched, Koprol Gained 7000 New Users In First Day

Unlike any other online startup marketing method, Yahoo-Koprol decided to put up a TVC ad on national TV to help promote Koprol to Indonesia’s general audience. Last Monday, for the first time the TVC ad went on air resulting a rush of new user registration the day after. Satya Witoelar, Koprol’s Chief Creative told DailySocial that they got over 7000 new users within 1 day after the TVC ad went on air.

And it’s actually more than just adding new users, Witoelar also noted a record breaking activity streams (checkins and comments) on the location-based service as the result of the ad campaign. This is a major breakthrough for Koprol and its local services, especially with marketing cost covered by the Yahoo! guys ;)

The campaign itself is integrated between conventional media and also digital media, including TVC, print, and also online marketing on Google AdWords. And since this is only the beginning of the integrated campaign, expect more record breaking news from Koprol. As far as Indonesian’s concern, this is the first time for a former startup get to put ads on national tv, so it’s pretty historic.

Founder of Indonesia’s Most Popular PPC AdNetwork Starts Another PPC AdNetwork

The title does sound weird, but it’s true. Kukuh TW, one of Indonesia’s successful serial entrepreneur is the founder and CEO of KumpulBlogger, a widely popular PPC Ad network with more than 120.000 publishers displaying ads. Founded in 2007, KumpulBlogger has successfully becoming Indonesia’s top PPC Ad Network with hundreds of advertisers and keep adding more and more publishers into using their service.

Until a few weeks ago, Kukuh TW announced his new startup IdBlogNetwork which is also a PPC ad network. It’s a bit confusing at first, but Kukuh explained that both KumpulBlogger and IdBlogNetwork still running under his management and that both services are targeting different type of publisher and advertiser. Kukuh claims that while KumpulBlogger targetting personal advertisers with personal bloggers as publishers, IdBlogNetwork tries to catch bigger advertisers with selected publishers to guarantee the quality of the ad itself.

One of KumpulBlogger’s biggest weakness is the ‘get-rich-fast’ mlm scheme dominating the services with almost 95% ad majority. Kukuh TW promised to fix this problem in IdBlogNetwork, advertisers are carefully chosen to make sure nothing scammy will show up and also to guarantee the quality of the ads served by publishers.

Indonesia is indeed a huge market for services like these, research conducted in 2009 reveal a huge number of Indonesian bloggers, almost 1 million bloggers. Most of these bloggers are doing it for fun, and a few use their blog to spread useful information and putting up adSense or ppc services like KumpulBlogger in order to generate money. And based on my personal experience, for average an blogger KumpulBlogger generates more money compared to Google AdSense or any other PPC ad network.

Kukuh TW himself was a serial entrepreneur, previously he founded Kronologger (microblogging service sold to Asia Blogging Network), lokasiJakarta (sold) and petaProperti. He’s a very talented and productive developer with an eye for business opportunity. Look out for his surprising move in the local’s tech industry.?

KlikBCA Embrace Mobile Web and Apps For Smartphones

Said to be one of the best eBanking system in Indonesia, KlikBCA now leave their competition behind even further by embracing the mobile culture of their urban Indonesian user. Today, KlikBCA announce that they’re officially opening their new mobile eBanking system, a mobile version of their web-based KlikBCA. BCA claims that this mobile version is as secure as the desktop version.

Not only releasing their mobile website, KlikBCA will also launch native apps for popular devices in Indonesia. KlikBCA will soon release its native app for Blackberry, iPhone, Nokia S60 and a Java-supported app for the rest of the smartphone. Excellent choices of handheld support that represents almost all eBanking users in Indonesia, although the iPhone app seems a bit too presumptuous. It’s not that i don’t like iPhone, i love them, but Android seemed to be picking up instead of the iPhone.

KlikBCA is also partner with several e-commerce websites such as Bhinneka, IndoMog (online gaming payment) and several other partners. In the future, KlikBCA will add more and more partner,  probably making KlikBCA as Indonesia’s biggest closed-loop mobile e-commerce / integrated banking system. Seems like a big dream.
