Reciprocating compressor functionA reciprocating compressor or piston compressor is a type of positive-displacement compressor that utilizes pistons operated by a crankshaft to compress gases at high pressures. The process begins with gas entering the suction manifold, subsequently flowing into the compression cylinder. Here, the gas is compressed by a piston that moves in a reciprocating fashion, powered by a crankshaft, before it is discharged. They are widely used across various industries, including railway and road vehicle air brake systems, oil refineries, gas pipelines, oil and gas production, air and nitrogen injection, offshore platforms, chemical plants, and even for refrigeration and air conditioning.
