Abstract
Cyclic polyesters offer unique properties and potential for various applications. However, the synthesis of these polyesters via ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of O-carboxyanhydrides (OCAs) remains less explored. This study introduces a catalytic system involving triethylboron (TEB) and 1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) in the presence of benzyl alcohol (BnOH) to facilitate the ROP of l-phenyl O-carboxyanhydride (l-PheOCA). The ternary system shows excellent control and produces cyclic poly(alpha-hydroxy acid)s (PAHAs) with a narrow molecular weight distribution and high thermal stability.
