I bought these earpads to fix up some MDR-RF985R's that i inherited from a person who used them a lot (and left them kind of gross).  From what i can tell from what's left of the original earpads, the fabric on these new ones is similar in both look and feel; i like the fact that it's soft against my skin, and i never feel like it's sticking to me, as one might anticipate with any pleather-like material.  I selected this model primarily because of the piece of fabric that covers the "hole" in the center of the pad; as mentioned above, the headphones were a little gross when i got them, and i was grateful to have a barrier -- even a thin one -- between me and that piece of foam that's glued to the speaker area and therefore can't be cleaned well without damaging the electronics.  I found the difficulty level of putting the pads onto the headphones to be "just right:" if it's too easy to put them on, then you need to worry about it being too easy for them to fall off.  I have no such worries.

I had a brief exchange with the seller (over a matter too complicated and insufficiently universal to explain) and was very pleased with the way in which the issue was handled.
